Black Hill Press Presents 29 to 31: A Book of Dreams by Kevin Staniec
213/621-1710
3pm

The MOCA Store hosts a book release, signing, and performance. From the book's preface: "At the conclusion of a three-year relationship I purchased an antique Smith & Corona from a stranger living in Riverside. This portable Silent from the early 1930's survived the Depression, and social, political and religious war while typing administrative reports, class assignments and love letters. I placed the typewriter on my nightstand and hit keys every morning, sometimes even before my eyes opened, documenting these dreams."

WEST HOLLYWOOD

Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland is the first American museum exhibition devoted to the work of Bob Mizer (1922–1992) and Touko Laaksonen, aka “Tom of Finland” (1920–1991), two of the most recognizable figures of 20th century erotic art and forefathers of an emergent post-war gay culture. Organized by MOCA Curator Bennett Simpson and Guest Co-Curator Richard Hawkins, in collaboration with the artists’ respective Foundations, the exhibition will feature a selection of Laaksonen’s masterful drawings and collages, alongside Mizer’s photographs, photo-collages, and films, as well as his groundbreaking magazine Physique Pictorial—where drawings by “Tom” were first published in 1957.
