Virtual MOCA: Giving Tuesday

This Tuesday, we would like to highlight ways in which you can help My Friend’s Place, a local organization who provides essential care to youth experiencing homelessness. In the midst of this crisis, young people experiencing homelessness continue to seek care, resources, and opportunities to support their health, safety, and survival. My Friend's Place is currently serving 60-70 youth each day, in addition to 60-70 vulnerable older individuals experiencing homelessness who have limited access to essential resources and emergency supplies. The staff at My Friend's Place are on the front lines of this crisis, providing critical care in so many ways. They provide meals, clothing and emergency supplies, medical care and assessment, as well as case management services and housing support. Additionally, they are collaborating with local partners to ensure youth experiencing homelessness are not forgotten in the face of this pandemic. Keeping our city’s young people connected to these services is vital so that, when this crisis resolves, young people can continue on their trajectories toward a permanent exit from homelessness. And they can’t do this work alone! Here are some ways in which you can help:

  • Support the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, established to support the critical supplies that will keep the My Friend’s Place facility clean, ensure that they can continue to provide youth with meals and emergency supplies, and cover expenses related to an emergency sick time fund created to support staff health and wellness. • Shop online through the My Friend’s Place Amazon Wishlist to help provide meals, clothing, and emergency supplies to youth experiencing homelessness during this time. This list is continually updated to reflect their greatest needs.
  • Stay Connected by following My Friend’s Place on their social channels to stay up to date on service changes, emerging needs, and to be reminded of the impact that we have together in supporting our city’s young people. Here are their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
