Big Family Day

Big Family Day
Sunday, June 3, 2012
noon–4pm
The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA

MOCA's biggest art celebration of the year features gallery tours by MOCA Apprentices, hands-on activities, entertainment, and more. Inspired by Ends of the Earth: Land Art to 1974 and Cai Guo-Qiang: Sky Ladder, participants will create a project or perform an action that integrates thinking, planning, executing, and documenting. Using carefully selected materials, they will interact with the environment outside the museum and have the option to collaborate with other participants.

LIVE PERFORMANCES:
The Vox Dance Theatre and MOCA co-present the world premiere of Sarah Swenson's Al Noor, with music by L.A.–based electronic music maestro, Carl Stone. One of Swenson's creation dances, Al Noor is a life cycle, beginning and ending with the slow rotation of spheres or celestial bodies. Al Noor means of light in Arabic.

MEXIKA performs traditional and new music using the ancient, exotic, and cosmic sounds of Mexican instruments.
